Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to invite applications for a 6.5 PA Consultant Dermatologist to provide maternity cover within our friendly, dynamic and expanding Dermatology Department.
This fixed-term post is available for 9 months , with the possibility of extension to 12 months , commencing ideally in September or October 2026 .
This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant seeking to gain experience within a highly supportive London teaching hospital and to become part of an ambitious, forward-looking department.
In addition to this maternity cover post, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will shortly be advertising two substantive Consultant Dermatologist posts , with interviews expected during Autumn 2026 .
The successful applicant will therefore have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working within the department before deciding whether to apply for a substantive consultant position. Should the successful applicant subsequently be appointed to one of the substantive posts, the remainder of the maternity leave would simply be covered by another locum consultant.
We actively encourage consultants to develop their own subspecialty interests and, wherever possible, these can be incorporated into the agreed job plan and supported within the department.
The postholder will provide a comprehensive Dermatology service, working collaboratively with consultant colleagues to deliver high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes the assessment and management of adult dermatology patients, timely review of inpatient referrals, participation in skin cancer services including 2WW clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings and the provision of telephone and electronic Advice and Guidance to local GPs.
