Your next role
Joining Swindon Borough Council as an Applications Technical Support Consultant working in the Enabling Information & Technology team is your chance to make a significant difference and be part of something exciting.
A key part of this role will be supporting business-critical applications, resolving incidents and service requests, and maintaining high standards of system security and performance and working closely with the business stakeholders and other members of the IT team. So strong cross-functional collaboration skills are a must.

- Proven experience in a customer-facing IT support role
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Highly motivated with a positive, professional attitude
- Understanding of ITIL processes, including change control
- Ability to meet deadlines and performance targets (SLAs, OLAs, KPIs)
- Experience in applications management, including upgrades and support
- Good understanding of SQL database administration (installation, maintenance, and management)
(SQL development experience is advantageous)
- Knowledge of server administration related to application environments
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as:
- SFTP, .NET, RDS, SMTP
- Understanding of security practices (authentication, information security)
- Knowledge of networking concepts related to application configuration
- Experience with Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Web Services and Java
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
