Carry out the decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, and preparation of flexible endoscopes and associated equipment in accordance with national guidelines, local policies, and manufacturers' instructions.
Operate and monitor endoscope washer disinfectors and other decontamination equipment, ensuring all cycles are completed correctly and documented accurately.
Perform leak testing, visual inspection, and functional checks of endoscopes before and after decontamination to identify any faults or damage.
Maintain accurate records and traceability documentation for all endoscopes and accessories processed within the unit.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, infection prevention and control standards, and Joint Advisory Group (JAG) and HTM 01-06 requirements.
Safely handle, transport, store, and prepare endoscopes and accessories to prevent damage and contamination.
Monitor stock levels of consumables, chemicals, detergents, and personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting shortages as required.
Report equipment faults, maintenance issues, incidents, and non-conformances promptly and in accordance with local procedures.
Participate in routine environmental cleaning and housekeeping activities within the decontamination unit to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

- Decontaminate flexible endoscopes and associated equipment in accordance with HTM 01-06, local policies, and manufacturers' instructions.
- Perform manual cleaning, leak testing, inspection, and preparation of endoscopes prior to and following decontamination.
- Operate Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWDs) and drying/storage cabinets safely and effectively.
- Conduct routine checks of drying cabinets and report any faults, alarms, or performance concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain full traceability records for all endoscopes processed within the decontamination unit.
- Identify, report, and document damaged or faulty endoscopes and equipment.
- Ensure all decontamination processes are completed accurately and within agreed timescales to support clinical activity.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures and safe systems of work.
- Comply with Health and Safety legislation, COSHH regulations, and the Trust's policies and procedures.
- Monitor equipment performance and report faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Assist with validation testing, audits, quality assurance activities, and service improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment within the decontamination unit.

- Ensure compliance with HTM 01-06, infection prevention and control standards, and local decontamination procedures.
- Participate in quality assurance programmes, audits, and accreditation processes to maintain service standards.
- Maintain accurate and complete records to ensure full traceability of endoscopes and associated equipment.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment faults, and non-conformities in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and service development projects within the Endoscopy Decontamination Unit.
- Support the monitoring and review of key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics.
- Participate in competency assessments, training programmes, and mandatory updates to maintain professional standards.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, continuous learning, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, COSHH requirements, and Trust policies.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and local working practices.
