Job Overview
We are looking for an organised, confident and proactive Credit Controller to join our team.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for managing customer accounts, maintaining strong cash collection and ensuring outstanding balances are followed up promptly and professionally.
You will work closely with our Sales and Finance teams, building good relationships with customers while ensuring accounts remain accurate and payments are received within agreed terms.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage the credit control process and chase outstanding customer payments
- Maintain regular contact with customers by telephone and email
- Monitor customer accounts and outstanding balances
- Allocate and reconcile customer payments
- Send statements, payment reminders and relevant account documentation
- Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries
- Work closely with the Sales team to resolve customer account issues
- Agree and monitor payment arrangements where appropriate
- Escalate overdue or high-risk accounts when required
- Maintain accurate customer and credit control records
- Produce regular aged debtor and collection reports
- Support month-end processes and account reconciliations
- Assist with customer credit checks and setting or reviewing credit limits
- Ensure credit control procedures are consistently followed
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance team as required
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or a similar finance role
- Confident and professional telephone manner
- Comfortable having conversations regarding overdue payments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and Sage accounting systems
- A proactive approach with the ability to follow issues through to resolution
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
