Specifically, in this role, you will manage and execute tax compliance, accounting, and advisory requirements for the innovative Digital Science UK portfolio of companies. Acting as a critical bridge between indirect tax, corporate tax, and employment taxes, you will leverage advanced systems and cutting-edge automation tools to optimize our reporting workflows and drive efficiency.
UK & International VAT Compliance
Gather and prepare UK VAT return information for final review and submission by internal team members (5 entities).
Monitor international VAT/sales tax thresholds and handle preparations for overseas VAT requirements.
Manage comprehensive VAT accounting and reconciliations.
South African VAT/Canadian GST
Corporation Tax & Accounting
Support corporate tax compliance through thorough data gathering, analysis, and information preparation.
Assist with CT accounting obligations, including deferred tax, Research & Development (R&D) tax relief, Corporation Tax provisions, and Group Relief structures.
Transfer Pricing
Employment Tax Support
Provide essential support for employment tax regimes, including the PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA), Payrolling Benefits in Kind (PBIK), Short Term Business Visitors (STBV) and CEST/IR35 status assessments.
Advisory, Queries & Transactions
Coordinate responses to Withholding Tax (WHT) queries and complete necessary statutory WHT forms.
Act as the first point of contact for general, everyday tax queries arising from the Digital Science companies.
Provide analytical support to the Senior Tax Director during corporate due diligence and transaction assignments.
Systems & Process Improvements
Proactively identify, feed into, and support technical and systems improvements within the Digital Science entities and the wider Group.
Utilise advanced data manipulation tools (including Excel/VBA), and AI tools, to automate manual tax compliance steps and optimize reporting efficiency
Tax Technical Aptitude: Proven experience in preparing employment tax returns (PSA, P11D, CIS) and managing quarterly VAT returns and reconciliations.
Analytical Capabilities: Strong capability to gather information and perform structured data analysis.
Systems & Automation: Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including VBA programming for manipulating massive datasets and building/enhancing in-house systems. Practical working knowledge of enterprise ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Communication & Languages: Confident stakeholder management and professional communication skills when dealing with internal business divisions, external advisors, and tax authorities.
