Extreme Scaffolding is an established Scaffolding & Access company currently turning over £8.5m per year. We serve a wide area from our base in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, including Stevenage, Letchworth, Bedford, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Greater London.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Commercial Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and ensuring commercial operations run efficiently. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while translating data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely applications for payment in line with contractual requirements.
- Manage the change and variation process, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly cost reports and provide supporting analysis where required.
- Monitor and log labour expenditure using internal systems, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
- Prepare weekly/monthly wages and verify price work schedules.
- Manage external hire outside agreed contract periods, ensuring additional rates (licences, hire, alarms, hoists) are agreed with the client prior to application release.
- Respond to invoice and customer queries promptly and professionally.
- Proactively chase outstanding payments while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ensure all relevant information is captured from customer orders prior to project commencement, including order numbers and VAT status; create and maintain comprehensive project packs.
- Maintain accurate document control of drawings and project records.
- Ensure internal and external systems are kept up to date with project and subcontractor information.
- Attend, participate in, and minute monthly commercial meetings.
- Carry out site surveys as required to support project delivery and commercial processes.
- Provide general administrative support to the office, including assisting with day-to-day functions such as answering telephone calls and handling enquiries.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (4:30pm finish on Fridays).
