S C Commercials is looking for an experienced Light Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our growing car and light commercial vehicle repair operation.
This is a great opportunity for a capable technician who can work confidently across a range of cars and vans. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can diagnose faults accurately and consistently completes servicing and repairs to a high standard.
The successful applicant will join a friendly, busy workshop with a varied workload and the opportunity to play an important part in the continued growth of our light vehicle operation.
Key Responsibilities
· Servicing, maintaining and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles
· Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
· Carrying out brake, suspension, clutch, timing belt and general mechanical repairs
· Completing vehicle inspections and identifying any additional work required
· Using diagnostic equipment to investigate warning lights and vehicle faults
· Carrying out routine maintenance and repair work to a high standard
· Accurately recording work completed, parts used and any further recommendations
· Carrying out road tests where required
· Keeping the work area clean, safe and organised
· Following company health and safety procedures
· Working effectively both independently and as part of the wider workshop team
What We Are Looking For
· Previous experience working as a Light Vehicle Technician, Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Mechanic
· A recognised motor vehicle qualification, ideally NVQ Level 2 or Level 3, is preferred but not essential
· Good mechanical, diagnostic and fault-finding skills
· Experience working on a range of vehicle makes and models
· The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
· Strong attention to detail
· A reliable, organised and professional approach
· Good communication and teamwork skills
· A full UK driving licence
An MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
This vacancy is for an experienced technician and is not an apprenticeship position.
Hours of Work
· Monday to Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm
· Alternate Saturdays, approximately two Saturdays per month
· Additional Saturday work may be available depending on workshop demand
· Full-time, permanent position
Any additional hours and Saturday working arrangements will be discussed with the successful applicant.
