Contract: Zero-hours

Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable children’s sports coach to join our team from September, delivering fun and engaging sports sessions to children aged 2–4 in nursery settings.
Please note: this is a zero-hours position and there are no guaranteed minimum hours.
We are currently planning our September schedule and expect coaching hours to become available. However, the exact number of hours and session times will not be known until the beginning of September.
This role is therefore best suited to someone looking for flexible additional work alongside university, another coaching role or other commitments, rather than someone who requires a guaranteed number of hours each week.
You’ll be delivering pre-planned sessions in nurseries, so confidence, energy and the ability to engage young children are key.
The Role
You’ll lead fun, structured sports sessions designed to help young children develop coordination, confidence and a love of physical activity.
Sessions take place during the daytime, Monday to Friday, at different nursery settings across Dudley, Sandwell and surrounding areas.
As our schedule develops and we take on new settings, there may also be opportunities to take on additional regular sessions.
All session plans and sports equipment are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver fun, structured multi-sports and football sessions to children aged 2–4
- Create a positive, safe and engaging environment
- Lead warm-ups, games and simple skill-based activities
- Adapt sessions to suit different abilities and energy levels
- Engage positively with children and encourage participation
- Build professional relationships with nursery staff
- Arrive on time and prepare appropriately for each session
- Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
Experience & Requirements
- Experience working with young children through coaching, nursery work, teaching or a similar role
- Confident leading groups of young children and managing behaviour positively
- Energetic, enthusiastic and able to bring sessions to life
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- An interest in sport, fitness or physical activity
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
- Coaching qualifications are beneficial but not essential
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential
- You must be able to travel independently between nursery settings across Dudley, Sandwell and surrounding areas
Due to the locations of our nurseries and the timings between sessions, this role is not suitable for someone who relies on public transport to travel between settings.
Who This Role Could Suit
This opportunity could be ideal for:
- University students studying sport, education or a related subject
- Sports coaches looking for additional daytime coaching hours
- Teaching assistants or education professionals looking for extra work
- Fitness professionals with weekday daytime availability
- Someone looking to gain further experience in children’s sports coaching
What We Provide
- £15.00 per hour
- Flexible daytime coaching opportunities
- All sports equipment provided
- Pre-planned sessions and activities
- Support and guidance when starting the role
- Opportunities for additional hours as the business grows
Important Information About Hours
This is a zero-hours contract, which means there is no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week.
We expect coaching hours to become available from September, but our September schedule is still being finalised. We will have a clearer picture of available sessions at the beginning of September.
We want to be completely transparent about this so applicants understand the nature of the position before applying.
