Residential Children’s Worker
Supporting Children and Young People with Disabilities
We are seeking compassionate, patient, and dedicated Residential Children’s Workers to join our specialist residential home supporting children and young people with disabilities, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and complex needs.
Our home provides a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children are supported to develop independence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing. As a Residential Children’s Worker, you will play a key role in delivering person‑centred, therapeutic care, ensuring every child feels valued, understood, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Positions Available
- 1 × Part‑Time Residential Children’s Worker – 26 hours per week
- 3 × Part‑Time Residential Children’s Workers – 24 hours per week
Pay & Salary Information Hourly Rate
£14.00 – £16.00 per hour
Pay within this range is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skills.
Factors considered include:
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, autism, or complex needs
- Relevant care or childcare qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
- Ability to deliver person‑centred, therapeutic care
There are opportunities for progression as skills, experience, and qualifications develop.
Annual Salary (excluding sleep‑ins)
26 Hours per Week
- £14.00/hour = £18,928 per year
- £15.00/hour = £20,280 per year
- £16.00/hour = £21,632 per year
24 Hours per Week
- £14.00/hour = £17,472 per year
- £15.00/hour = £18,720 per year
- £16.00/hour = £19,968 per year
Sleep‑In Duties
- 1 sleep‑in duty per week expected
- £50 per sleep‑in
- Annual sleep‑in payment: £2,600
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality daily care, ensuring children’s safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
- Support children with personal care respectfully and sensitively
- Promote communication using individualised methods appropriate to each child’s needs
- Encourage participation in education, sensory activities, recreational, and social opportunities
- Follow and contribute to personalised care and behaviour support plans
- Provide calm, consistent emotional support to promote emotional regulation and confidence
- Work collaboratively with families, education providers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate and reflective records in line with regulatory standards
- Support with transportation to school, appointments, and activities where required
Working Pattern
To provide stability and consistency for our children, flexibility is essential. Staff are required to:
- Work every other weekend
- Complete a mixture of early and late shifts
- Undertake sleep‑in duties as part of the rota (minimum 1 per week)
Shifts are planned in advance, and we are committed to maintaining a fair, supportive, and balanced working pattern.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a naturally caring, nurturing, and patient approach
- Demonstrates empathy and emotional resilience
- Has experience working with children (experience with disabilities is desirable but not essential)
- Is willing to learn about autism, sensory needs, and therapeutic care
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Can work collaboratively while showing initiative
- Holds a full UK driving licence (preferred)
