UCL STEaPP is a unique interdisciplinary department within an Engineering Faculty that bridges science, technology, engineering and public policy to maximise societal benefit through research, education and partnerships. Its educational portfolio spans undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
This is a maternity cover, fixed-term part time role with earliest start date 1st September 2026 until 31st August 2027 in the first instance.
This role involves teaching and supporting STEaPP’s BSc and online MSc programmes, including developing course materials, managing module administration, supervising student research projects, contributing to the “How to Change the World” programme, and collaborating with academic and professional services staff across programmes. It also includes delivering teaching and learning activities, supporting student engagement through regular communication and office hours, and overseeing assessment and feedback processes across the modules.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a field relevant to Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy, together with experience teaching and leading courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive, research-led education; experience designing innovative teaching materials and learning activities for both online and in-person delivery; proficiency with digital learning platforms; and experience setting, marking and providing high-quality feedback on assessments. The role requires excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, supervise and support students throughout their studies, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
