Job Title - Aluminium Gravity Die Caster
Department - Foundry
Reports To - Foundry Supervisor / Production Manager
Salary
Minimum starting rate: £12.71 per hour, or the applicable National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage for the applicant's age,
Higher starting rates may be offered to applicants who can demonstrate relevant skills, qualifications, and previous experience in aluminium gravity die casting, foundry operations, manufacturing, engineering, or other transferable industries.
Job Purpose
To manufacture high-quality aluminium castings using the gravity die casting process while ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health and safety requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, prepare and operate gravity die casting tooling
Preheat, clean and maintain gravity dies before production.
Melt and pour aluminium safely into gravity dies.
Remove castings from dies using appropriate tools and equipment.
inspect castings for defects.
Carry out visual quality checks.
Identify casting defects and report any quality concerns.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of dies and equipment.
Maintain accurate production records where required.
Ensure work areas are clean, organised and free from hazards.
Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Experience operating aluminium gravity die casting equipment.
Knowledge of aluminium casting processes.
Ability to read work instructions and engineering drawings.
Good understanding of quality standards.
Ability to work safely around molten metal.
Good attention to detail.
Reliable and punctual.
Desirable
Forklift licence.
Overhead crane experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift components within manual handling guidelines.
Comfortable working in a hot and physically demanding environment.
Must wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Working Hours - As required by the business, including shift work and overtime where necessary.
