A caring and inclusive primary school near Hunderton, Hereford is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school is arranging interviews and paid trial days immediately, with the successful candidate able to start straight away or from the beginning of the new school term.
This rewarding role involves supporting children from Nursery through to Year 6 (ages 3–11), helping pupils with a variety of additional learning needs to achieve their potential in a positive and nurturing school environment.
You'll work closely with teaching staff to provide personalised support for pupils with needs including Autism, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and a range of other Special Educational Needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
- Help adapt classroom activities to ensure every child can access learning.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive engagement in lessons.
- Support children's emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to deliver targeted interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour using supportive and inclusive approaches.
- Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.
- Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Experience working with children or young people in schools, nurseries, childcare, care, or similar settings.
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with:
- Previous SEN support experience in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, speech and language needs, or additional learning needs.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or qualifications in Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
- A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
- Welsh language skills.
