THE ROLE
As a Telephony Engineer at MCS Group, you will be responsible for delivering, installing and supporting business communication systems for our clients. The role combines hands-on project work with technical support, including provisioning telephony platforms, installing and configuring phone systems, resolving support tickets, and ensuring systems are delivered to a high standard. You will also support wider infrastructure installations, including data cabling, Wi-Fi access points, comms cabinets, switches, routers and firewalls, helping clients maintain reliable, professional and well-connected working environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provision, configure and maintain hosted telephony platforms for new and existing clients.
- Install, commission and test business phone systems to ensure successful deployment.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for telephony-related incidents and service requests.
- Diagnose and resolve faults relating to handsets, call routing, SIP services and connectivity.
- Complete telephony system upgrades, migrations and user moves, adds and changes.
- Install, terminate and test structured data cabling to a professional standard.
- Install and configure wireless access points and assist with client network deployments.
- Build, install and maintain comms cabinets, ensuring neat, secure and documented installations.
- Install and configure network infrastructure including switches, routers and firewalls.
- Maintain accurate documentation, update project records and deliver all work in line with MCS quality standards and client expectations.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED
- Experience provisioning, configuring and supporting hosted telephony platforms.
- Experience working with Gamma Horizon and Gamma telephony solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across telephony, SIP services and call routing issues.
- Experience installing and commissioning business phone systems.
- Experience with structured network cabling, including installation, termination and testing.
- Experience installing and configuring wireless access points and Wi-Fi networks.
- Good understanding of network infrastructure including switches, routers and firewalls.
- Ability to diagnose connectivity issues across telephony and network environments.
- Strong documentation skills, maintaining accurate records of installations and support work.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with a professional and client-focused approach.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
