Senior Production Technician (Stage).
The role...
We are recruiting for a Senior Production Technician in Stage at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, to facilitate the smooth and safe running of My Neighbour Totoro.
In this exciting role, you will support the Head of Stage Engineering in the delivery of rehearsals and performances of My Neighbour Totoro as well as the maintenance of the show and the technical theatre infrastructure. You will be expected to carry out stage plots, fly’s plots, and take an active role in supervising the stage crew.
Alongside the rest of the team, you will play an integral role in creating a high performance culture and achieving the overall brand vision: to stage the extraordinary.
What you’ll be doing…
- Led by the Head of Department (HoD) assist with the maintenance of set pieces.
- Led by the HoD, maintain the flying pieces and the counterweight system.
- Running the fly floor during shows.
- Responsible for maintaining high standards within the stage crew.
- Motivating the stage team to achieve their potential.
- Undertaking work assigned by the department heads.
- Allocating show plots to the stage team.
- Lead the stage crew in weekly maintenance sessions.
- Working on technical rehearsals as/when required.
- Working closely with the visiting company and its Stage Management to ensure the smooth and safe operation of each show.
- Working as part of a team to maintain a professional work environment, where performers, technicians and audience members are safe.
- Problem solving during live performances.
- Manual handling is necessary in these roles and training will be provided.

- Technical theatre experience from another West End or number one touring venue is desirable but not essential.
- Happy to work evenings and weekends.
- Experience working on a West End Show / production environment.
- An understanding of theatre health and safety is desirable,
- Willingness to work overtime as / when required.
- Happy to work evenings and weekends, including Sundays.

Salary: £18.01/hour + overtime as required, rising in line with SOLT/BECTU agreements. 40 hours a week over 6 days.
