We are looking for skilled and experienced HGV Mechanics/Technicians to join our busy workshop in Bilston. The successful candidates will work on our own fleet of refuse collection vehicles as well as customer vehicles, including Dennis Eagle refuse vehicles, other HGV makes and models, trailers and associated body and hydraulic equipment.

The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of a wide range of commercial vehicles.
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out six-weekly inspections, servicing and repairs on HGV refuse collection vehicles, predominantly Dennis Eagle.
- Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on other makes and models of HGVs.
- Carrying out MOT preparation and servicing of HGV vehicles.
- Carrying out six-weekly inspections, servicing and repairs on trailers.
- Carrying out MOT preparation and servicing on trailers.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Carrying out servicing and repairs to refuse vehicle bodies, bin lifters and hydraulic systems.
- Identifying faults efficiently and ensuring vehicles are repaired to a high standard.
- Carrying out road tests and manoeuvring vehicles around the workshop/site as required.
- Using forklifts and workshop equipment to handle heavy components and parts where required.
- Completing job cards, inspection sheets and other associated paperwork accurately.
- Accurately recording labour time, parts and work carried out.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and relevant safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Keeping up to date with vehicle technology, manufacturer information and product knowledge.
- Supporting other members of the workshop team, including Apprentice Technicians.
- Carrying out additional/ad-hoc workshop duties as required.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience working as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
- A recognised NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent, or demonstrable experience/competence.
- HGV driving licence – essential.
- The ability and relevant experience to carry out and sign off six-weekly inspections.
- Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems and commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing HGV faults.
- Experience with servicing, repairs and MOT preparation.
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own workload.
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements within a busy workshop.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- A reliable, hardworking and self-motivated attitude.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to work efficiently and meet required deadlines.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience working on refuse collection vehicles (RCVs).
- Experience with Dennis Eagle vehicles.
- Experience working on refuse vehicle bodies and bin-lifting equipment.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system experience.
- Diagnostic experience and/or relevant diagnostic qualifications.
- Trailer maintenance experience.
- Experience working within a fleet or commercial vehicle workshop.
- Welding/fabrication experience.
- Experience mentoring or supporting apprentices or junior technicians.
- Class 1 HGV licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Pay: £33,750.00-£42,000.00 per year
