We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our privately owned nursery, My and Me, located in the heart of Blackheath. We are committed to create excellent childcare to all our children. Most importantly, our staff share a commitment to the nursery’s success and ethos. We are located just outside Blackheath station. As a Deputy manager working with us, you can expect a competitive salary starting from £34'000 per annum depending on experience, training and development, as well as a caring and passionate place to work.
- A childcare and education qualification equivalent to Level 3 or above
- Previous experience of managing a room or team within a nursery setting in a managerial role
- SENCO is preferable
- A current First Aid qualification.
- A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- A thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures
- A thorough understanding of SEN
Deputy Manager-Key Responsibilities
- To support the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including overseeing planning and record keeping
- SENCO paperwork and meetings with Local Authorities
- Promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers and other family members
- Support with the development of and maintaining highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority departments, regulatory bodies and other agencies
- Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policies and practices
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of regular staff, planning and parent meetings and other events.
- Ensure the nursery consistently promotes positive behaviour, self-control and independence in the children through using effective behaviour management strategies and developing children's social, emotional and behavioural skills.
- Ensure the Nursery maintains and develops a learning environment that is inclusive and promotes children's health, safety and physical, mental and emotional well being.
- Working with the Nursery Manager to manage, develop and deploy the whole nursery team, ensuring that the nursery is adequately staffed at all times.
- Be the Designated Safeguarding Lead in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
- Regularly review and update the nursery risk assessments, ensuring the nursery is a minimal risk environment and that all team members are well-versed in our specified control measures.
- Be a role model for exceptionally high standards, never cutting corners, thriving on feedback, and leading educational excellence.
- Point of contact for cleaners/handyman etc..
