The Opportunity
OCU is delivering critical transmission infrastructure projects that support the UK’s energy network and enable the transition to a more sustainable future. As a Project Manager within our Transmission division, you’ll take ownership of complex, multi-disciplinary projects, leading teams to deliver safely, on time, and to the highest standards. Lead the delivery of transmission projects from mobilisation through to completion
- Develop project plans, including programme, resources, and key milestones
- Manage project teams, setting clear expectations on safety, quality, and delivery
- Coordinate internal departments and external suppliers to ensure seamless execution
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies
- Manage project budgets, tracking costs and maintaining commercial control
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Report project performance, risks, and milestones to senior leadership
- Review completed projects to identify improvements and share best practice
Essential:
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure or utilities projects in a Project Manager role
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and delivery frameworks
- Experience managing project budgets, risks, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure
- National Grid experience and authorisations required
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience within transmission, power, or energy infrastructure projects
- Bonus if you hold a recognised project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent)
- It would be great if you’ve worked in a principal contractor environment with direct client accountability
