Pharmacist – Distance Selling Pharmacy
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented GPhC-registered Pharmacist to join our growing distance selling pharmacy.
This is a unique opportunity for a pharmacist who enjoys the technical, governance and operational aspects of pharmacy, rather than direct patient-facing care. The role is focused exclusively on the safe and compliant dispensing , ensuring every prescription is processed accurately and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
You will work closely with our dispensing team, prescribers and operational colleagues to maintain the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinically screen and authorise prescriptions.
- Ensure all dispensing activities comply with the Human Medicines Regulations, Misuse of Drugs Regulations and GPhC Standards.
- Provide final accuracy and clinical checks before medicines are dispatched.
- Oversee the safe management, storage and record-keeping of Controlled Drugs.
- Maintain Controlled Drug registers and ensure accurate audit trails.
- Investigate and report dispensing incidents, near misses and discrepancies.
- Support SOP development, review and implementation.
- Contribute to clinical governance activities, audits and continuous quality improvement.
- Work collaboratively with prescribers and the wider pharmacy team to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, professional guidance and company policies.
- Support inspections and regulatory audits where required.
About You
You will be an experienced pharmacist who values accuracy, governance and patient safety.
Essential
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Knowledge of Controlled Drug legislation and pharmacy governance.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
- Good IT skills and experience using pharmacy dispensing systems.
Desirable
- Experience working within a distance selling pharmacy.
- Knowledge of electronic prescribing systems.
