Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and academic support for Level 3 Health and Social Science programmes delivered through Magna Carta College’s partnership network. The lecturer will facilitate engaging learning experiences, assess learner work in accordance with awarding body and partner institution requirements, and support students in developing the knowledge and professional competencies necessary for progression to higher education or careers within the health and social care sector.
The role also contributes to maintaining academic standards, ensuring compliance with partner and regulatory frameworks, and supporting the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning across partnership programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare and deliver structured teaching sessions for Level 3 Health and Social Science modules across MCC partnership programmes.
- Deliver engaging teaching sessions through face-to-face, online or blended learning environments as required by programme delivery.
- Support students in developing theoretical understanding and practical knowledge relevant to health and social care and social science disciplines.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including international students and adult learners.
Assessment and Academic Support
- Assess learner assignments and coursework against approved assessment criteria and awarding body standards.
- Provide constructive, timely and developmental feedback to support student learning and academic progress.
- Monitor learner engagement, attendance and academic progress, identifying and supporting students who may be at risk of underachievement.
- Provide academic guidance and support to learners regarding programme requirements and progression opportunities.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment outcomes and learner progress in accordance with institutional and partner requirements.
- Participate in internal verification, moderation and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure teaching and assessment practices comply with MCC policies, awarding body regulations, and partnership agreements.
- Contribute to programme monitoring, review and enhancement activities.
Partnership and Professional Engagement
- Collaborate effectively with MCC academic staff and partner institution representatives to ensure consistent programme delivery.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of curriculum materials and teaching resources.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training activities and academic development initiatives.
- Maintain an up-to-date CPD record and stay informed of developments in health, social care and social science education.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- RQF level 6 or above qualification in your relevant subject area.
- A recognised teaching qualification (or commitment to obtain one).
- A subject-related qualification at an appropriate level for HE delivery.
- Experience delivering teaching or training in an HE or comparable educational setting.
- Experience of assessing learner work and providing academic feedback.
- Updated yearly CPD Log.
Desirable
- Experience teaching adult learners and/or international students.
- Knowledge of emerging digital technologies, including AI and related bootcamp programmes.
- Experience delivering blended and online learning sessions..
Summary
This role supports the delivery of Magna Carta College’s partnership programmes by providing high-quality teaching, academic guidance, and assessment for students enrolled in Level 3 Health and Social Science courses. The Lecturer will play a key role in creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and the development of subject knowledge relevant to the health and social care sector.
Working within MCC’s partnership delivery framework, the Lecturer will ensure that teaching and assessment practices meet the academic standards and regulatory requirements set by the College, awarding bodies, and partner institutions. The role involves delivering structured teaching sessions, assessing learner work against approved criteria, monitoring student progress, and providing constructive feedback to support academic development and achievement.
The Lecturer will also contribute to maintaining high standards of quality assurance by participating in internal verification processes, maintaining accurate academic records, and supporting programme monitoring and review activities. In addition, the role requires effective collaboration with MCC academic teams, programme leaders, and partner institutions to ensure consistency in teaching delivery and student support.
Through effective teaching practice and ongoing professional development, the Lecturer will help prepare students for progression to higher education or employment within health, social care, or related fields, while contributing to the continued growth and reputation of Magna Carta College’s partnership education provision.
Pay: £30.00-£40.00 per hour
