Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, cost control, and financial reporting related to construction projects. This role is essential in ensuring projects are completed within budget, maintaining financial accuracy, and supporting effective resource allocation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of construction costs, and a proactive approach to project financial management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects based on project specifications and drawings.
- Monitor project expenditures continuously to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential cost overruns early.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify quantities against project plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to negotiate costs and secure competitive pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to the project, including variations and change orders.
- Implement effective cost control measures and provide recommendations for cost optimization throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, expenditure analyses, and variance reports.
- Assist in tendering processes by evaluating bids and preparing tender documentation.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations regarding payments, claims, and certifications.
- Support project teams in resolving financial disputes or discrepancies promptly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of cost control principles, budgeting techniques, and financial management software.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents clearly.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools.
