About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting, and proactive Critical Services Supervisor (Lead Engineer) to provide technical leadership within a critical client environment and support the delivery of an exceptional and frictionless workplace experience. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who is passionate about operational excellence, resilience, risk mitigation, customer service, and the safe and reliable performance of critical building systems.
As a CBRE Critical Services Supervisor, you will oversee the team responsible for resolving and completing day-to-day work orders and delivering technical maintenance services in a critical environment. You will plan and coordinate workloads, review work completion, support training, manage escalations, oversee contractors, and evaluate Planned Preventative Maintenance assessments. You will lead by example, share technical expertise, and ensure personal and team outcomes positively support customer objectives.
Please Note: This is a Monday- Friday role (08:00-17:00).

What You'll Do
Technical Team Leadership & Development • Manage, plan, coordinate, schedule, and oversee team workloads, deadlines, and day-to-day activities to ensure effective service delivery. • Provide holiday, training, and sickness cover for other members of the shift team. • Lead by example and model behaviours consistent with CBRE RISE values. • Guide team members in applying relevant practices and procedures, share technical expertise, and work to build consensus. • Assist with the development and delivery of critical services training programmes. • Support a high-performance culture focused on safety, service excellence, technical capability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Efficiency & Maintenance Delivery • Review work logs and outstanding items through the in-house system to ensure completion. • Coordinate day-to-day work orders and technical maintenance activities to support customer satisfaction. • Evaluate Planned Preventative Maintenance assessments of plant and equipment and make recommendations for improvements and upgrades. • Help ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance and reactive works are delivered in accordance with applicable procedures, manufacturer requirements, asset needs, and site standards. • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance delivery, equipment reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency. • Ensure out-of-line situations are documented through incident reports and appropriately escalated.
Critical Services, Safety & Risk Management • Ensure contractors and staff comply with company and client safety and security requirements. • Proactively identify and help mitigate operational risks to safety, compliance, resilience, and business continuity. • Support the safe operation and maintenance of critical mechanical and electrical systems and associated infrastructure. • Support permit-to-work and other safe systems of work for relevant high-risk activities in accordance with site requirements. • Apply an in-depth understanding of processes, procedures, systems, and technical concepts within the critical services function. • Resolve complex operational problems and identify appropriate approaches to achieve team objectives.
Contractor, Client & Stakeholder Relations • Act as a point of contact for client and management escalations. • Seek out new vendors where required and maintain effective relationships with current vendors. • Support contractor performance reviews and compliance checks. • Communicate technical issues, risks, progress, and recommendations clearly to clients, management, colleagues, and service partners. • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and provide timely updates on critical activities, incidents, and outstanding actions. • Ensure team outcomes have a positive impact on customer objectives and the workplace experience. Continuous Improvement & Performance • Use work-order information, maintenance findings, incident reports, and technical assessments to identify trends and improvement opportunities. • Establish or recommend new techniques where appropriate to help the team meet its objectives. • Contribute to operational reporting and translate technical information into clear actions and recommendations. • Support the adoption of workplace and engineering programmes while maintaining required technical, safety, and service standards.

What You Bring • Technical Leadership: Experience coordinating technical teams, workloads, deadlines, and service delivery in an engineering or critical services environment. • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to resolve complex problems, assess existing solutions, and make timely recommendations. • Critical Services Expertise: In-depth understanding of relevant technical maintenance processes, procedures, systems, and concepts, with basic knowledge of related functions. • Safety & Risk Focus: Strong commitment to safe working practices, contractor compliance, operational resilience, and risk mitigation. • Customer-First Approach: Commitment to delivering reliable technical services that support customer satisfaction and workplace experience. • Relationship Building & Influence: Ability to maintain effective relationships with clients, management, colleagues, contractors, and vendors. • Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex concepts or sensitive information clearly and professionally. • Organisation & Planning: Excellent organisational skills and an inquisitive mindset, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities. • Technology Skills: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education, Experience & Requirements • Relevant technical qualification and 5 or more years of job-related experience. • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience is preferred. • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical installation, together with the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations requirement stated for the role. • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and lifting or carrying loads of 50 lbs. or more. • Full driving licence required. • Participation in an on-call rota of one week in six is required, covering 17:00 to 08:00 Monday to Friday and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. • A fixed fee is paid for each on-call week. Call-outs receive a minimum payment of four hours’ overtime, with additional hours paid where the task takes longer. The first four hours and subsequent hours are paid at x1.5 Monday to Saturday, and at x2.0 on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
