Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated detached youth worker/Sports Coach to engage young people (15 years and older) in outdoor street diversionary sporting activities in Birmingham City Centre. The ideal candidate will have experience of organising fun and engaging diversionary sporting activities, confidence in approaching and befriending youths, and possess a range of youth work skills to motivate and keep youths interested.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate sports sessions that promote physical activity, skill development, and enjoyment.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation from children of all abilities.
- Monitor safety during activities, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Organise competitions, events, and training programmes to enhance engagement and skill progression.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the sports facilities are clean, safe, and well-organised.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching or coaching sports programmes for youth groups.
- Strong understanding of youth work practices.
- Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to motivate young people positively.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with youth and colleagues professionally.
- Organisational skills to plan sessions efficiently and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Relevant coaching certifications or qualifications are advantageous but not essential;
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: £8.00-£12.21 per hour
