Excel Supply are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting for a September start.
The school is a specialist setting supporting young people aged 11 to 16 with a wide range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This includes pupils with autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, and sensory processing difficulties.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs, along with experience providing personal care support. You will be caring, patient, and committed to helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
The role will involve:
- Supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism and SEMH needs
- Providing personal care assistance where required, including support with daily routines
- Supporting pupils’ learning, communication, and emotional development
- Encouraging independence and building positive relationships with young people
- Working alongside teachers and support staff to deliver personalised support
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous SEN experience within a school or specialist setting
- Experience supporting young people with complex needs
- Previous personal care experience
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- The ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil need
