Econ Engineering Ltd, the UK's leading supplier of winter maintenance vehicles, is seeking a Laser Cutter Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Ripon. This is a key role responsible for maximising the efficiency of our state-of-the-art Bystronic 12kW laser cutting facility and ensuring components are delivered to production on time and to our standard.
Key Responsibilities:
· Create, manage and optimise nesting programmes for the Bystronic Bystar 12kW Laser Cutter to maximise machine utilisation and sheet usage.
· Plan and manage laser cutting workload to support production schedules whilst responding effectively to shop floor demands.
· Generate and amend 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor to support production and engineering requirements.
· Process engineering change requests and update engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation to reflect approved design improvements.
· Liaise closely with Production, Engineering and Purchasing teams to identify manufacturing improvements and ensure design changes are implemented accurately and effectively.
· Process works orders on the company ERP system and assist production with admin tasks in associated with managing the factory workflow.
An ideal candidate will:
- Hold a HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering,
- Be able to demonstrate a good knowledge/understanding of engineering drawings with a background in 2D CAD.
- Ideally have a knowledge of 2D CNC profile cutting (laser/plasma/waterjet, etc.)
- A basic understanding / experience with of 3D CAD (ideally Autodesk Inventor)
- Have an understanding of manufacturing ERP’s and the process involved.
- Be commercially aware with strong organisational and planning skills.
