Primary Teaching Assistant

We’re seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant who is calm, patient and deeply committed to supporting pupils in a small, nurturing classroom environment.
About The Pupils
This role supports a class of pupils all with individual strengths, sensory needs and communication styles. The provision is designed to be predictable, structured and child-centred – with a strong focus on emotional regulation, communication and building confidence at each pupil’s pace.
Your role is not to “fit pupils into the system” but to adapt the environment and learning so it works for them.
As a Primary TA, You Will:
· Provide consistent, relationships-based support to a small group of pupils
· Support communication using visual aids, routines and individual strategies
· Help pupils regulate emotions and feel safe during transitions
· Support learning through play, curiosity and personalised activities
· Work closely with the class teacher and specialists to follow EHCP targets
· Celebrate progress in all its forms – big and small
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
· Understands that behaviour is communication
· Is patient, calm and emotionally attuned
· Can provide structure while remaining flexible to pupils’ needs
· Values both connection and compliance
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour

Monday to Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
