Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and organised Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts Team. This is an ideal opportunity for a college lever with some work experience, as well as applicants who may already have some relevant office based experience and are looking to build their skills further in a busy and supportive environment.
This role offers a great introduction to working in an accounts function. You will be supported by the team as you learn how to carry out a range of day-to-day financial administration tasks, including processing transactions, updating records, and helping ensure everything is kept accurate and up to date.
The role can be fast paced at times, particularly during busy periods, so it would suit someone who enjoys keeping busy, staying organised, and working carefully under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Entering financial information into systems accurately and carefully
- Assisting with recording payments and receipts
- Updating and maintaining account records with strong attention to detail
- Supporting the team with basic checks and reconciliations
- Helping with general administrative tasks within the accounts team
- Responding politely to queries from colleagues or clients
- Assisting with routine monthly tasks
- Helping ensure financial records are accurate and up to date
- Working with colleagues across the business in a professional and helpful way
- Managing your workload to meet deadlines, particularly during busy periods
Communication
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and clients
- Respond to queries in a timely and helpful manner
- Build positive working relationships across teams
- Handle information sensitively and maintain confidentiality
Compliance & Accuracy
- Follow internal processes and procedures
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in all work
- Take care when handling financial information and data
- Raise any issues or errors to the Accounts Team Leader
What We’re Looking For
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel or similar)
- Well organised and able to manage your own workload
- Able to communicate well with people at all levels
- Friendly and professional approach
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working with numbers and have a good basic level of maths
- Able to work in a busy, sometimes pressurised environment
Experience
Previous accounts experience is not required, but you should be comfortable working with numbers and have a good basic level of maths.
Pay: From £25,500.00 per year
