Purpose of Role:
To work under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients. Provide medicines-related and healthy lifestyle advice to patients as well as assisting in the smooth operation of the pharmacy.

Duties of the Role:
- Support the pharmacist with dispensary operations
- Ordering of dispensary stock and medicines in line with company policy
- Select, label and dispense pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures and complying with all legal requirements.
- Ensure the safe and correct handover of dispensed items to patients.
- Accurately maintain Patient Medication Records to ensure patient safety in accordance with data protection requirements.
- Identify prescription queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist.
- Answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines, where it is within your competence.
- Receive stock in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines including refrigerated items.
- Assist with stock control and the maintenance of reasonable stock levels within the dispensary and ensure that urgent orders are processed.
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals to assist in the continuity of patient care across primary and secondary care.
- Receive prescriptions from counter staff and ensure they are dispensed in a timely manner.
- Assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by the needs of the business.
- Promote the pharmacy to be the patients choice for the electronic prescription service.
- Supporting the pharmacist to ensure that prescriptions are ready for the delivery driver.
- Prepare dosette boxes accurately following correct company procedure.
- Adhere to repeat dispensing within the agreed time frames.
- Ensure all prescriptions are completed correctly by the customer.
- Ensure that prescriptions are filed at the end of each day and ready to send to NHS monthly.
- Carry out stock count and date checks for controlled drugs.
- Ensure that the pharmacy dispensary is kept clean and tidy at all times, adhering to the cleaning rota.
- Greet customers in a professional and friendly manner.
- Accurately complete cash and debit/credit card transactions with customers.
- Maintain product knowledge and understand the main features and benefits to customers.
- Select and recommend suitable products to customers and provide advice on their correct use in line with the manufacturer's guidance which includes over the counter and retail products.
- Promote and recommend healthy living and value added services to customers and deliver where appropriate.
- Inform customers of approximate waiting times and manage their expectations.
- Ensure the safe and correct handover of dispensed items to patients according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Answer the telephone in a professional tone within a timely manner and handle customer queries appropriately.
- Handle prescription related queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist where appropriate.
- Receive stock in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of over the counter remedies and minor ailments by reading journals, product information and company training resources.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on latest public health matters.
- Stay up to date with company announcements by reading communication bulletins/policy updates.
- Assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by needs of the business.
- Identify opportunities to link-sell products to increase average transaction value.
- Ensure a thorough handover between working shifts clearly and concisely in a timely manner.
- Promote the pharmacy to be the patients choice for the electronic prescription service (EPS).
- Manage patient owings and ensure they are actioned within 48 hours.
- Carry out duties on the Post Office counter when required (if applicable).
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Job Skills:
- Qualifications:
- To have completed an accredited NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) Dispensing Assistant training course, or to be working towards the accredited course under the guidance of the pharmacist within 12 months.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
Experience:
- Pharmacy dispensing : 1 year (preferred)
