Role Overview
Our client is a London-based investment management firm with a growing, entrepreneurial team and a dynamic approach to investing. Operating across financial markets and real estate, the firm offers a broad and varied working environment, providing employees with exposure across the business and the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility from an early stage in their careers.
We are looking for a driven highly organised individual to join our client's team as a Trading Assistant / Desk Support.
This role would suit a recent graduate or early-career candidate who is looking to build a career within financial services and develop within a fast-paced, dynamic investment firm. Previous experience in investment management is not essential; more important is a strong willingness to learn, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the confidence to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Working closely with senior members of the investment team, the successful candidate will gain broad exposure to trading, investments, brokers, counterparties, real estate and the day-to-day operations of an investment management business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to the investment and trading team, helping ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the desk.
- Manage diaries, meetings, calls and internal and external schedules across the team.
- Communicate with brokers, counterparties and other external contacts, following up on outstanding information, documentation and actions as required.
- Support trade, transaction and investment-related administration and maintain accurate internal records and documentation.
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of information for investment meetings, transactions and internal discussions.
- Assist with the management of the firm's real estate portfolio, including coordination with property managers, leasing agents, contractors and other advisers.
- Support new investment and transaction processes, including information gathering, due diligence coordination and communication with external advisers.
- Monitor outstanding actions and help ensure key deadlines and deliverables are followed through.
- Undertake ad hoc research and projects for senior members of the investment team.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Management or a related discipline.
- Excellent organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- The ability to manage several priorities simultaneously and work effectively under time pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good numerical ability and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- A willingness to learn quickly and a desire to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
Applications from high-calibre recent graduates are encouraged. Previous financial services experience is advantageous but not required.
Career Development
This role is intended to provide significantly broader exposure than a traditional administrative position.
A successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a practical understanding of investments, trading, credit, real estate, transaction execution and portfolio management while working directly with experienced investment professionals.
As their knowledge and capabilities develop, there will be scope to assume greater responsibility across areas such as investment analysis, transaction support, portfolio monitoring and other aspects of the investment process.
For an ambitious individual who demonstrates initiative, sound judgement and a strong willingness to learn, the role offers the opportunity to develop into a broader investment-focused position over time.
