Pearsons Glass is a leading UK provider of glass products and processing services, supporting artists, students, hobbyists, and commercial clients across the UK. Our work spans creative art glass and advanced processing, including CNC cutting, UV printing, laminating, toughening, and sandblasting.
Operating from a modern Liverpool facility, Pearsons Glass combines technical precision with a people-focused culture. We work across bespoke residential projects and large-scale commercial contracts, offering a dynamic and operational environment
We are looking for an experienced B2B Business Development Manager to help to grow Pearson's Glass by developing strong customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and guiding customers through our specialist glass processing capabilities.
Pearson's Glass has been in business for over 120 years. We manufacture on-site in Liverpool, giving you direct access to the technical knowledge, production expertise and support needed to deliver an excellent service to our customers.
This is not a generic, off-the-shelf sales role. Our products are bespoke, technical and made to customer requirements, so we are looking for someone who can ask the right questions, understand customer needs, build trust and create long-term commercial partnerships.
About the role
You will spend time in the office at the beginning of the role to build a strong understanding of our product range, capabilities and customer base. You will report directly to our Processing & Heritage Director, who has led sales for the last 10 years, and you will work closely with our Customer Service Manager to share feedback, improve processes and deliver great customer experience.
The role will combine relationship management of our established customers with proactive new business development. You will identify suitable prospects, develop opportunities, prepare quotes and, over time, build the commercial understanding to support pricing decisions and customer rate structures.
You will spend time visiting customers and prospects, as well as working from our Liverpool office and from home once training is complete. You will have the flexibility to shape your approach, provided you are building the right relationships, developing a healthy pipeline and delivering results.
We offer a salary of £40,600 per year plus a targeted bonus up to 25% of salary along with 30 days’ holiday including Bank Holidays. You will need a car for which an allowance will be paid. Once your training has been completed this will be a hybrid role.
What we are looking for
Essential:
· 3-5 years' experience in B2B sales, business development or account management.
· Proven ability to build strong, long-term customer relationships.
· Confidence developing new business and managing a sales pipeline.
· Excellent communication, questioning and listening skills.
· Ability to understand technical or bespoke products and guide customers clearly.
· Commercial awareness and confidence preparing quotes.
· A customer-focused approach with high professional standards.
· Full UK driving license.
· Flexibility to support the customer service team when needed.
Useful but not essential:
· Experience in manufacturing, glass, glazing, construction, interiors, architecture, building products or another technical B2B sector.
· Experience selling bespoke, made-to-order or specification-led products.
· CRM or sales pipeline management experience.
The right person
You will be approachable, commercially aware and confident speaking with customers at different levels. You will enjoy building relationships, but you will also be proactive enough to find and develop new opportunities.
We are looking for someone who represents Pearson's Glass with professionalism and integrity, listens properly, follows through on commitments, and understands that good business development is about trust, service and long-term value - not quick wins at any cost.
We know some people read an advert and decide not to apply unless they meet 100% of the criteria. If you like the sound of the role and have most of what we are looking for, we would still like to hear from you.
