About the role
We are looking for a confident and organised HR Manager to join our team in Welham Green, Hatfield on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for one year.
This is a fully on-site position, five days per week, and applicants must be able to reliably commute to Welham Green, Hatfield for a 7:00am start.
This is a hands-on, generalist HR role supporting employees and managers across both Company branches. You will be responsible for the day-to-day HR function, including employee relations, recruitment, HR administration, training and compliance.
Responsibilities
- As HR Manager, you will be responsible for a broad range of HR activities across both branches, including:
- Managing employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, investigation, absence and performance processes.
- Managing recruitment, onboarding, inductions and probation processes.
- Preparing employment contracts, offer documentation and contractual changes.
- Coordinating employee training, health surveillance and Occupational Health referrals where required.
- Maintaining accurate HR systems, employee records, holiday and absence information, and providing relevant information for payroll.
- Supporting managers and employees with day-to-day HR queries and ensuring Company policies and procedures are applied consistently.
- Keeping HR policies, procedures and documentation up to date and supporting compliance with UK employment legislation.
- Providing occasional administrative support to the Marketing department, including assisting with the preparation and dispatch of samples.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a varied HR workload and who can confidently manage both routine HR administration and more sensitive employee matters.
You will ideally have:
- At least 1 year of experience in a generalist HR role.
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts and general HR administration.
- Strong written and spoken English, with confident and professional communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Confidence using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities and take ownership of day-to-day HR matters.
- The ability to work fully on-site in Welham Green, five days per week, with a 7:00am start.
- The unrestricted right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Experience using Atlas HR software would be an advantage but is not essential.
A CIPD qualification, or currently working towards a CIPD qualification, would also be advantageous but is not essential.
