Salary: Up to £50,000 OTE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm | Optional Saturday Overtime: 8:15am – 1:15pm
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic/Technician
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing workloads effectively
- Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing light vehicles to a high standard
- Excellent organisation, record-keeping, and time-management skills
- Own hand tools required
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-focused attitude
About the Role
We are a friendly, independent garage based in Hazel Grove, Stockport, looking to recruit an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on role involving servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and fleet vehicle management. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring vehicles are maintained, repaired, and returned to customers efficiently while helping to coordinate workshop workloads and maintain high standards across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance to manufacturer and workshop standards
- Complete vehicle health checks and identify any faults or safety concerns
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment
- Undertake repairs ranging from routine maintenance through to more complex mechanical work
- Service and maintain fleet vehicles, ensuring work is completed on schedule
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed, parts used, and inspections carried out
- Prioritise workloads to ensure vehicles are repaired and serviced within agreed timescales
- Support workshop efficiency by working collaboratively with colleagues and helping manage daily workflow
- Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and to a high standard
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Mechanic or Vehicle Technician
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Experience using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment
- Working knowledge of modern vehicle systems and repair methods
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of workloads
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle workshop tools and heavy equipment safely
- Own hand tools
Desirable
- Experience working with fleet vehicles
- Previous experience supporting workshop scheduling or overseeing workloads
- MOT testing qualification (if applicable)
