The Role
The Student Casework Officer will have a varied workload and be a decision make on all first stage appeals, investigate and manage student conduct hearings and investigate and respond to formal student complaints.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills and be able to manage multiple case files simultaneously and to strict deadlines.
They will be able to work effectively with colleagues to obtain the information needed to support the making of informed decisions. The successful candidate will also be able to work sensitively with students and others, noting that issues may be personal and so strict confidentiality will be required.
As a writer, they will be able to clearly articulate the reasons for decisions (whether their own decisions or through producing the minutes and outcome letters from panel hearings).
Finally, they will act as an ambassador of good practice and will seek to find themes and trends from the student casework you see to inform the University of ways in which it can improve its service to students.
