Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Web Designer to design, build, and maintain responsive websites and web-based applications. The successful candidate will combine strong visual design skills with technical expertise to create engaging, user-friendly websites that deliver an excellent customer experience across desktop and mobile devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain responsive websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern web technologies.
- Build and customise WordPress websites, themes and plugins according to business requirements.
- Create visually appealing user interfaces with a strong focus on usability and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain websites using CMS platforms including WordPress and Joomla.
- Collaborate with management to understand business requirements and convert them into functional website solutions.
- Optimise website performance, page speed and SEO best practices.
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways and online forms where required.
- Perform website testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
- Monitor website security, updates and regular maintenance.
- Manage website hosting, deployment and version control.
- Work closely with marketing teams to improve online visibility and digital campaigns.
- Produce technical documentation and maintain coding standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
- Experience developing websites using WordPress.
- Knowledge of responsive and mobile-first web design.
- Experience using Bootstrap or similar front-end frameworks.
- Working knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Understanding of website optimisation and SEO fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Joomla CMS.
- Knowledge of Node.js.
- WooCommerce development experience.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs.
- Understanding of website security best practices.
- Experience with Google Analytics and Search Console.
