The Chichester Arms is a family orientated pub/restaurant situated in Mortehoe, North Devon.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food production and hospitality, with the ability to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves, ensuring food safety standards are met, and assisting in food preparation. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning and food preparation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment.
- Participate in food production, including cooking, plating, and presentation of dishes.
- Help train new kitchen staff on proper techniques and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to create innovative dishes that meet customer expectations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen operations.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example.
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- A genuine passion for cooking and helping others succeed in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 – 40 per week
