Our GP Practice is a busy, patient-focused NHS GP practice committed to delivering high-quality primary care. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operational management of the practice and support the delivery of safe, effective and efficient services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous GP practice management or primary care management experience who enjoys leading teams, improving processes and driving high standards of patient care.
The Role
As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and administrative management of the practice, ensuring that services run smoothly and efficiently. You will work closely with the GP Partners and leadership team to support service development, staff management, compliance and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the practice.
- Lead, support and develop the administrative and reception teams.
- Ensure compliance with CQC, NHS and contractual requirements.
- Oversee HR processes including recruitment, induction, performance management and staff development.
- Manage practice rotas and workforce planning.
- Monitor practice performance against key targets and contractual requirements.
- Support financial management, budgeting and income optimisation.
- Lead on quality improvement initiatives and operational projects.
- Develop and review practice policies and procedures.
- Manage patient feedback, complaints and significant events.
- Work collaboratively with the GP Partners, PCN, ICB and external stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Previous experience working in a GP Practice or Primary Care setting.
- Experience managing staff and day-to-day operations.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of NHS primary care.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A proactive, positive and solution-focused approach.
Desirable
- Previous Practice Manager experience.
- Knowledge of SystmOne.
- Understanding of CQC regulations and NHS contracts.
- Experience with HR, finance and payroll processes.
