About the role
Balfour Beatty is looking for a Site Engineer to join our UKCS Scotland business, working on our Netherton Hub project in Peterhead.
This is an excellent opportunity to support the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of construction works on a key project, providing engineering control, setting out and technical support across assigned work areas.
As a Site Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring works are delivered in line with design, specification, quality and project requirements. You will work closely with Section Engineers, operational teams, subcontractors and site supervision to help drive successful project delivery, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing
As a Site Engineer, you will:
- Carry out setting out and survey activities in line with project requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Establish and maintain accurate engineering records and as-built information.
- Support the resolution of technical issues, raising Technical Queries where required.
- Help ensure works are delivered in accordance with design and engineering standards.
- Support the production of Activity Control Plans, Inspection & Test Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation and records.
- Identify and raise Non-Conformance Reports where required.
- Participate in site inspections, audits and safety initiatives.
- Support short-term planning activities and progress monitoring.
- Communicate engineering requirements clearly to site teams.
- Assist in identifying and escalating delivery risks.
- Support measurement and progress reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate records to support commercial processes.
- Help identify potential additional works and notify project teams where required.

Who we're looking for
We’re looking for someone with a strong engineering background and a proactive approach to supporting safe, high-quality project delivery.
You will have:
- An HNC, HND, degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in a Site Engineer or Graduate Engineer role within construction or infrastructure.
- Knowledge of setting out techniques and engineering controls.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience using surveying equipment.
- An understanding of quality assurance processes and inspection requirements.
- A valid CSCS card.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- A positive, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
