Overview of the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Scientist to join our growing team, based in Sheffield. The ideal candidate will hold a BSc or MSc in a relevant field with proven skills in molecular biology. We are looking for an individual who wants to be part of an exciting opportunity and contribute to our company culture. You should be enthusiastic, willing to learn new skills, and able to operate effectively within a team. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. While the role primarily involves regular hours, there may be occasional weekend work required.
Key responsibilities
● Responsibility for the manufacturing, quantification, and quality control of nucleic acids
● Conducting experiments to a high standard and maintaining accurate experimental records
● Communicating updates on project status to the project leader and wider team
● Performing work assignments accurately and safely according to established health and safety procedures
● Take responsibility for general laboratory management and administration, including stock control of laboratory consumables
● Assisting with cell culture tasks as required
Profile & Qualifications
● BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or Biotechnology)
● Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques; industry experience is desirable
● Practical experience in the production, quantification, and quality assurance of nucleic acids
● Familiarity with SOPs, lab documentation, and health & safety compliance
● Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
● Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
