Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. Working within our on-site IRTEC accredited workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience working with specialised equipment. The ideal applicant will possess a comprehensive understanding of vehicle systems, electrical components, and fabrication techniques, with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, including lorries and various trailer types
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical experience to identify issues accurately
- Repair and replace faulty components using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
- Perform mechanical repairs involving assembly, disassembly, and reassembly of vehicle parts
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Conduct testing after repairs to confirm optimal vehicle performance
- Support the team with heavy lifting tasks and utilise specialised equipment safely
Qualifications
- Proven experience in vehicle or equipment repair, preferably within the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) sector
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience and familiarity with schematics
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised maintenance equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics accurately
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments
- Good customer service skills when liaising with clients or team members
- C+E Driving Licence prefered but not essential
- IRTEC Inspection Technician certified

Pay: £26,002.27-£52,000.00 per year
