Job Overview
Due to continued growth and the successful award of several new contracts, we are looking to recruit an experienced Steel Processing Operative to join our expanding team.
The successful candidate will have at least one year's experience in a steel processing or manufacturing environment and will play a key role in the production of high-quality steel components. This position involves operating, setting up, and maintaining industrial machinery used for cutting, shaping, and treating steel, while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties
- Set up, operate, and monitor steel processing machinery and production lines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications produced using SolidWorks.
- Handle, move, and prepare steel materials for processing in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure all steelwork meets strict quality standards and customer requirements.
- Carry out daily machine inspections and safety checks before production begins.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Identify and report equipment faults, defects, or quality issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with operational standards.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines
Requirements
- Minimum one year's experience in a steel processing, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, including SolidWorks-generated drawings.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently when required.
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
