About SKV Motors
SKV Motors is a fast-growing independent used-car dealership based in Romford. We operate from a large indoor showroom and manage approximately 60–80 vehicles at different stages of purchase, preparation and sale.
We are looking for an exceptionally organised, proactive and hands-on Dealership Operations Manager to oversee our day-to-day vehicle operation.
The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring every vehicle moves efficiently through our complete process:
Purchase → Collection → Appraisal → Preparation → PDI → Photography → Advertising → Sale → Handover
This is not a desk-only management position. You will coordinate staff, drivers, mechanics and suppliers while also getting directly involved with appraisals, PDIs and vehicle photography.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain an accurate overview of every vehicle and its current status.
- Set daily priorities and ensure no vehicle or outstanding task is forgotten.
- Arrange vehicle collections and deliveries with drivers and transporters.
- Coordinate servicing, MOTs, repairs, bodywork, wheel refurbishment, valeting and preparation.
- Allocate work to staff and suppliers with clear deadlines.
- Chase outstanding work and resolve delays quickly.
- Identify vehicles blocked in preparation and create an action plan.
- Keep DealerKit and internal tracking systems fully updated.
- Record preparation costs and obtain approval for additional expenditure.
- Ensure V5s, invoices, service history, spare keys and other documents are received and correctly filed.
- Maintain secure control of vehicle keys, trade plates and documentation.
- Track warranty repairs and aftersales work until completed.
- Ensure sold vehicles are fully prepared before customer collection.
- Monitor ageing stock and help reduce the number of vehicles exceeding 30, 60 and 90 days.
- Provide management with clear updates on progress, delays and costs.
- Improve operational systems and processes as the business grows.
Vehicle Appraisals, PDIs and Photography
- Carry out appraisals and basic PDI checks on purchased and part-exchange vehicles.
- Record any damage, faults or preparation work required.
- Ensure vehicles are properly prepared before advertising or customer handover.
- Photograph and video vehicles consistently to SKV Motors’ standards.
- Upload vehicle media and check that the advertised information is accurate.
A mechanical qualification is not required, but good practical vehicle knowledge is essential.
Requirements
- Exceptional organisation and attention to detail.
- A proactive attitude and strong personal accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple vehicles, people and deadlines simultaneously.
- Good practical knowledge of vehicles.
- Confidence carrying out vehicle appraisals and basic PDI checks.
- An interest in vehicle photography and presentation.
- Confidence chasing staff and suppliers professionally.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of preparation costs.
- Good computer skills, including email, spreadsheets and digital management systems.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
Previous experience within a used-car dealership, vehicle-preparation centre, fleet operation, appraisal role or automotive business is strongly preferred. Experience using DealerKit or another dealership management system would be advantageous.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be highly organised but equally willing to get stuck in. You will notice when something is delayed, missing or below standard and take responsibility for correcting it without needing to be repeatedly reminded.
You must be comfortable switching between administration, coordinating staff and suppliers, checking vehicles and completing photography throughout the day.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV with a brief explanation of your relevant dealership, operations, vehicle appraisal, PDI or photography experience
