Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable Assistant Store Manager to support the day-to-day running of our JCO Retail convenience stores (Londis) at the NEC. This is a fast-paced, event-driven environment where footfall can go from zero to 100 within minutes, requiring strong organisational skills, quick thinking, and a hands-on leadership approach.
This is a challenging but rewarding role within a unique venue, offering the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the overall operation of the store, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times
- Plan, manage, and optimise staff rotas in line with event schedules and trading patterns
- Manage product pricing, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness
- Place and manage orders, ensuring availability of stock to meet high demand periods
- Forecast sales and stock requirements using Excel and internal systems
- React quickly to changing trading conditions, particularly during large-scale events
- Lead, motivate, and support team members during busy and high-pressure periods
- Ensure excellent customer service is delivered consistently
- Maintain compliance with company procedures, health & safety, and food safety standards
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in retail or convenience store management (a must)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident using Excel for forecasting and data analysis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and event days
