About Intrelec
Intrelec is a specialist M&E contractor delivering electrical installations, integrated building services and planned maintenance across London. We are a small business with a big vision. Our management team has delivered projects on schemes valued in excess of £1 billion and brought those relationships with them; what we need now is the right team around us to take full advantage of them.
Following client demand we have expanded into mechanical work packages alongside our core electrical offering, and we are looking for a Project Engineer to support our Project Managers across tendering and delivery.
The role
You will be the technical and commercial engine room behind our CAT A and CAT B fit out projects, working from our Wandsworth Town office and out on site. The role suits someone who can pick up a package, run with it independently, and equally work alongside our estimators, engineers and site teams when the project demands it.
This is a broad role. In a typical week you might be surveying a floorplate in the morning, producing a lighting calculation in the afternoon, and pulling together a technical submittal or a valuation the following day.
Design and technical
- Produce schematic, containment, small power and lighting layout drawings in AutoCAD
- Carry out lighting design and calculations in Dialux or Relux, and interpret the results against CIBSE and EN 12464 requirements
- Undertake LV distribution design, including cable sizing, protective device selection, discrimination and earth fault loop impedance verification to BS 7671
- Prepare detailed technical submittals, equipment schedules and O&M content for client and consultant approval
- Interpret Employer's Requirements, specifications and consultant drawings, and identify scope gaps or design risks early
Commercial and procurement
- Price and tender new works, including site surveys, measured take offs and subcontractor enquiries
- Procure materials and specialist packages to meet project budget and programme
- Raise requisitions promptly and maintain accurate cost records against budget
- Support cost management through the project life cycle, including variations, change control and cost/value reporting
Delivery and reporting
- Prepare and issue work packs, RAMS and method statements to installation teams
- Monitor progress against budgeted hours and programme, and report exceptions early
- Produce weekly progress reports for internal review and client issue
- Support testing, inspection and commissioning activities, including witness testing and handover documentation
Compliance and quality
- Work in accordance with the company's Integrated Management System, including our ISO 9001 quality procedures
- Ensure all work complies with BS 7671, the Building Regulations and other applicable standards
- Apply and champion safe working practices at all times, protecting site operatives, building occupants and the public
