About the role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals within their own homes and the wider community.
You will support service users with their daily activities, personal care, medication, community access, appointments, household responsibilities and emotional wellbeing.
You may support people with:
- Mental health needs
- Autism or learning disabilities
- Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Physical disabilities
- Age-related support needs
- End-of-life or hospice-care needs
- Social isolation
- Community-access needs
This is a responsible role requiring patience, professionalism, reliability and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of others.
Main duties and responsibilitiesPersonal care and wellbeing
- Assist service users with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
- Support service users with mobility, transfers and safe moving and handling.
- Maintain each service user’s privacy, dignity and independence.
- Observe and report changes in a service user’s physical health, behaviour or emotional wellbeing.
- Provide reassurance, emotional support and companionship.
- Encourage service users to make choices and remain as independent as possible.
Medication and health support
- Administer or prompt medication according to care plans and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate medication records.
- Report medication concerns, errors or changes immediately.
- Liaise appropriately with colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Follow all health, safety, infection-control and safeguarding procedures.
Community support
- Support service users to attend medical appointments, activities and social events.
- Help individuals access community facilities and local services.
- Accompany service users while shopping or completing other essential activities.
- Drive service users to appointments or outings where required.
- Encourage participation in meaningful activities that support mental and emotional wellbeing.
Daily living support
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and personal preferences.
- Assist with light household tasks to maintain a clean and safe home.
- Support service users with correspondence, benefits, bills and budgeting where this forms part of their care plan.
- Assist with shopping and other agreed daily living activities.
- Follow all financial-recording and safeguarding procedures when supporting service users with money.
Recording and communication
- Read and follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Complete accurate care notes after every visit.
- Record all care, medication and support provided.
- Communicate professionally with service users, families, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or changes in need immediately.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
Reliability and professional conduct
- Arrive punctually for every scheduled visit.
- Complete all accepted shifts unless there is a genuine emergency.
- Inform the Care Coordinator promptly if an unavoidable problem affects attendance.
- Attend required training, supervision and team meetings.
- Follow BSI Healthcare’s policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Represent the organisation positively and professionally in the community.

Desirable experience and qualifications
The following would be advantageous:
- Previous domiciliary care or community support experience
- Experience in assisted living or nursing-home care
- Experience supporting people with mental health needs
- Experience supporting people with autism or learning disabilities
- Experience supporting people with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Senior-care, hospice-care or general caregiving experience
- Medication administration training
- Moving and handling training
- First-aid certification
- Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to a suitable vehicle for work
Previous professional care experience is preferred. However, applicants with the right values, reliability and transferable experience may be considered.
