Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre, part of the national youth work charity UK Youth, is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our small, supportive catering team.

About the Role
You will play an important part in our day-to-day catering operations, helping to ensure a welcoming, safe and enjoyable dining experience for our residential and day guests. Working alongside a small and friendly team, you’ll help create a warm and positive environment where young people and group leaders feel supported and well looked after.
While previous catering experience is helpful, this is not critical as full training will be provided, and we welcome applicants who are keen to learn, have a positive attitude, and enjoy working with people.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of food in line with food safety standards.
- Serve meals in a friendly, efficient and welcoming manner.
- Provide basic allergen information and support safe food service.
- Prepare and serve hot drinks and light snacks in our café area.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing up and clearing the dining room after service.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has some previous experience in a customer facing role ideally in catering or hospitality.
- Has a friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Understands the importance of food safety and hygiene (training can be provided).
- Works well both independently and as part of a small team.
- Is flexible and willing to support during busy periods, including weekends and evenings.
- Brings a proactive attitude and strong organisational skills.

Working Hours
This role is primarily Monday to Friday, 7:00am–2:30pm. However as we operate seven days a week, there will be some requirement for flexibility, including evening (up to 8pm) and weekend work. These hours form part of the role, so we are looking for candidates who can be flexible and are happy to support when needed.

Pay: £13.45 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 37.5 per week
