Job Summary
The Sports Bar Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the venue, ensuring outstanding customer service, profitable business performance, high food and drink standards, and full compliance with licensing, health and safety, and company policies. The manager will create an exciting atmosphere for guests while leading and motivating the team.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Manage the daily operation of the sports bar.
- Ensure excellent customer service at all times.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation throughout the venue.
- Ensure all TVs, audio systems, games, and equipment are operational before opening.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and develop team members.
- Prepare staff rotas to meet business needs.
- Conduct daily team briefings.
- Monitor staff performance and carry out regular reviews.
- Ensure staff follow company policies and service standards.
Food & Beverage
- Maintain high food quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor drink quality and correct serving procedures.
- Ensure food safety and hygiene regulations are followed.
- Minimise food and beverage waste.
Financial Management
- Achieve weekly and monthly sales targets.
- Monitor labour costs and scheduling.
- Control food and beverage costs.
- Manage cash handling and daily banking procedures.
- Review sales reports and implement strategies to increase revenue.
Stock Control
- Manage ordering of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Conduct weekly stock counts.
- Reduce wastage and investigate stock variances.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers.
Customer Experience
- Create a welcoming and energetic atmosphere.
- Encourage repeat business through excellent hospitality.
- Manage bookings, private events, and sports viewing events.
- Promote customer loyalty and positive online reviews.
Events & Entertainment
- Coordinate live sports screenings.
- Organise themed events, quizzes, tournaments, and promotions.
- Ensure smooth operation during busy match days and special events.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws.
- Maintain food hygiene standards.
- Follow Health & Safety regulations.
- Ensure Challenge 25 and responsible alcohol service policies are implemented.
- Maintain accident and incident records.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure kitchen, bar, gaming equipment, AV systems, and facilities remain in excellent condition.
- Liaise with contractors when repairs are required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Weekly and monthly sales growth.
- Labour cost within budget.
- Food and beverage gross profit.
- Customer satisfaction scores.
- Stock variance below target.
- Positive online review ratings.
- Staff retention and training completion.
- Compliance with licensing and health inspections.
Skills & Experience
- Previous management experience in a bar, pub, restaurant, or hospitality venue.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and licensing regulations.
- Experience with EPOS systems and cash management.
- Ability to work under pressure during busy sporting events.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Salary
Competitive salary based on experience, with opportunities for performance-related bonuses.
Pay: £32,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
