Maintenance Person / Handyperson
Manor by the Lake, Cheltenham
Full-time – 40 hours per week
Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per year, depending on experience
Manor by the Lake is a beautiful manor house and busy wedding venue. We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Person to help care for the property and ensure the venue is maintained to a high standard.
This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who takes pride in their work, can identify problems and is confident completing general repairs independently.
Key responsibilities
- Carrying out general repairs and routine maintenance throughout the venue
- Completing basic plumbing, carpentry and decorating work
- Maintaining bedrooms, function rooms and staff areas
- Inspecting the property and identifying maintenance issues before they become more serious
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests from different departments
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance
- Liaising with specialist contractors when required
- Keeping tools, equipment and maintenance areas organised and safe
- Ensuring work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to weddings and other events
- Attending occasional emergency maintenance call-outs at weekends
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Have practical general maintenance or handyperson experience
- Be dependable, organised and able to manage their own workload
- Have a good eye for detail and take pride in maintaining an older property
- Be confident diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions
- Work well independently and as part of a wider team
- Understand the importance of working discreetly around guests and live events
- Have a good awareness of health and safety
- Be available to attend emergency weekend call-outs when required
Carpentry and plumbing experience would be a strong advantage. A full UK driving licence would also be beneficial.
