MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES OF ROLE:
A Groundworker is responsible for preparing construction sites and carrying out essential groundwork activities that form the foundation of building and civil engineering projects. The role involves working safely and efficiently to ensure projects are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare sites for building and civil engineering works.
- Excavate trenches for foundations, drainage systems, and utility services.
- Install drainage, kerbing, paving, and underground pipework.
- Lay concrete, foundations, and slabs to specification.
- Carry out backfilling, compacting, and reinstatement works.
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as small plant and machinery where authorised.
- Read and interpret site drawings and follow project specifications.
- Assist with site setting out and levelling.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Work collaboratively with site managers, engineers, machine operators, and other trades.
- Maintain safe working practices whilst undertaking your duties at all times
- To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately
- Work flexibly and be receptive and adaptable to a changing environment within a fast-expanding Company
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by management

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Previous experience in groundworks or civil engineering.
- CSCS card (essential).
- CPCS or NPORS plant tickets (desirable).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK driving licence due to work location
