We are seeking an experienced and highly organised New Build Contracts Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of heating, plumbing, and renewable installations on new build residential projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Main Duties
- Project Management: Lead and manage multiple new build developments, ensuring all installations meet company standards and client expectations, including any contractual obligations.
- Develop and manage site programmes, coordinating engineers to meet deadlines.
- Regularly visit sites to monitor progress, coordinate with site managers, engineers and apprentices, and address any issues that may impact timelines or quality.
- Oversee on site stock levels to reduce surplus materials alongside the Materials Control Manager.
- Managing and providing applicable information on contra charges (defects) that arise during the development.
- Ensure all work meets the required technical standards in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, working with the Quality Manager to address any issues.
- Build and maintain good relationships with clients, site managers and internal teams.
- Submit and update completion reports using Site Trakker/ Priceworx in preparation for monthly valuations deadline dates.
- Assist the Procurement Manager with the site programme and forthcoming plot sequences, enabling us to provide supply chains with clear visibility of the materials required and anticipated demand.
- Oversee site variations to contract, ensuring that formal authorisation and an order is received from the site team before any additional works commence, enabling us to accurately capture and recover all associated additional costs.
- Team Leadership: Oversee and guide a team of engineers, apprentices, subcontractors, and site staff, creating a supportive work environment that drives high performance and good morale.
- Complete all necessary induction tasks and subsequent probation reviews for new team members.
- Manage employee annual leave and proactively encourage holiday planning to support labour management.
- Ensure that all engineers and subcontractors submit their timesheets daily through Priceworx, and review and approve them according to the payroll schedule.
- Conduct performance management processes effectively, in alignment with company procedures (you will be supported by HR Manager as needed).
- Applying various techniques to identify and enhance the performance of New Build Engineers, including appraisals and objective setting.
- Foster strong relationships with internal management and teams.
- Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements, risks, and areas for improvement, particularly in relation to apprentices development and training plans.
- Health & Safety: Ensure all projects comply with relevant health and safety regulations, conducting regular site audits and ensuring proper documentation is maintained via Safety Culture- co-ordinating with H&S Manager and other key stakeholders as needed. Regularly participating in internal meetings and steering group actioning any areas highlighted.
- Analyse health and safety performance identifying areas for improvement.
- Conduct toolbox talks with site operatives
- Notify the H&S Manager / Board of health and safety breaches, including accidents and near misses
- Ensure new starters receiveH&S Inductions to include sub contractors
- Supervising competency of workers and subcontractors
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all work meets or exceeds industry and manufacturers standards and client specifications working closely with our Quality Manager and the Customer Care Team, regularly participating in internal meetings and actioning any areas highlighted.
- Sustainability: Promote and integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of the project lifecycle, in line with Gregor Heatings commitment to environmental responsibility.
Physical Ability to:
- Drive company vehicles safely for short or extended periods if required for site visits or meetings.
- Sit at a workstation for prolonged periods, maintaining safe posture and ergonomics.
- Occasionally lift or carry light files, equipment, or samples (typically up to 10 kg).
- Have good vision, with or without corrective aids, sufficient to drive safely, read paperwork, manuals, and IT screens.
- Read, interpret, and follow technical instructions, contracts, manuals, procedures, and regulatory guidance accurately.

Experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience within the construction, heating, or plumbing industry, with specific experience in new build projects acting as either a lead Engineer or Contracts Manager role equivalent
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heating and renewable energy systems, with up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and make sound decisions.
- IT Skills: Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite and a willingness to pick up new software such as Sitetrakker and Priceworx.
- Compliance: Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
