We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Financial Accountant to join our Maxus UK finance team based in Liverpool.
Job Purpose
Working closely with the Finance Director and the wider finance team, you will be responsible for:
1. Key analysis of margins, overheads, and performance versus budgets
2. Calculation and reconciliation of key accruals and receivables, including OEM and dealer rebates
3. Liaison with internal, group, supplier and client teams to resolve issues where required
4. Partnering with the Maxus UK and Group aftersales teams to provide analysis and insight into team, contractual, and warranty performance
Along with the Finance Director, you will be the financial subject matter expert on these vital aspects of the business.
You will also assist with preparation of month-end and annual accounts for the UK entities, monitor compliance with budgets and targets and systems, and prepare ad-hoc reports and support the Maxus UK Finance team and the Maxus UK team.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the wider Harris Group finance team in UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Performance analysis
· Calculation and reconciliation of key accruals and receivables, including OEM and dealer rebates. Preparing and reconciling key balance sheet accruals and ensuring their integrity. Assist with dealer claim reviews and audit of dealer submissions and payments.
· Co-ordinating and tracking month-end closing and reconciliation activities as required.
· Provide all necessary reporting and analysis required to support the FD. Assist with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects and provide general support to the Maxus UK FD and wider team.
· Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
· Prepare weekly and monthly reports on required topics.
· Become the finance SME on aftersales performance including warranty reconciliation.
· Assist with accurate preparation of returns and reports required by regulatory bodies.
· Prepare files for auditors, including preparing schedules, evidence, and other backup for our auditors and other external bodies as required.
· Identify and implement process improvements to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function and the business. Challenge current ways of working and drive efficiencies and cost savings whenever possible.
· Proactively support with the implementation of wider finance and business initiatives.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA.)
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a commercial accounting role with a strong knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting principles.
· Experience of the motor industry is a strong advantage. Experience of Keyloop (Kerridge) is desirable.
· Excellent analytical and numerical skills and a good knowledge of excel and accounting software.
· Dynamic and pro-active, with great attention to accuracy and detail. Cares about the quality and standard of their work.
· A strong team player who can support and achieve the team and organisation’s goals. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and a proactive approach to individual tasks. Flexible and prepared to assist others across the business where necessary.
