The Making Place is looking for a friendly, reliable Project Support Worker to support Beyond the Postcard, a four-week youth music project taking place in Bath starting late October 2026.
Beyond the Postcard is a Sound Connections-funded project working with young people aged 13–17. Participants will work collaboratively as singers, rappers, musicians, beatmakers and lyricists to develop, record and produce original music, resulting in finished, release-ready tracks.
The role is approximately 30 hours spread across four weeks, with sessions taking place at Riverside Youth Hub in Bath. Some delivery will take place during evenings and weekends.
This is primarily a support role rather than a specialist music-delivery role. You do not need to be a musician, music producer or qualified youth worker.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work alongside the project lead to help create a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for the young people taking part. The role will include:
- welcoming and supporting young people during sessions
- encouraging participation and helping young people feel comfortable within the group
- providing practical support during creative activities
- helping with session set-up, pack-down and general organisation
- supporting positive group dynamics and appropriate boundaries
- helping the project lead maintain a safe and inclusive environment
- acting as an additional responsible adult during project delivery
Who we’re looking for
We’re particularly interested in someone who is:
- approachable and comfortable communicating with teenagers
- reliable and able to commit to the scheduled project sessions
- patient, calm and encouraging
- able to work professionally as part of a small team
- committed to safeguarding, inclusion and treating young people with respect
Previous experience working or volunteering with young people would be useful, but formal youth-work qualifications are not required.
Experience or an interest in music, arts, media or other creative activities would be welcome but is not essential.
Applicants will need to be available for the scheduled project delivery dates. Because this is a short-term project, availability across the project period is important.
The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate safeguarding checks for work with young people.

About The Making Place
Main business: : Education, Teaching and Training
The Making Place is a Bath-based creative youth project providing young people with opportunities to explore music, audio and media in a supportive, youth-work-led environment.
We run small-group workshops and projects in areas including music production, recording, songwriting, podcasting, audio engineering and film making. Young people work with real studio equipment and are encouraged to learn through making, experimenting and developing their own ideas.
Our approach combines high-quality creative experiences with the values of youth work: building positive relationships, creating inclusive spaces and supporting confidence, participation and personal development. We particularly aim to make creative opportunities accessible to young people who may not always thrive in traditional educational or large-group settings.
The Making Place delivers a mixture of open programmes, short courses and funded projects from our base at Riverside Youth Hub in Bath.
